DEREK'S BLOG: GOODBYE TO NEW ZEALAND

Hello from Active House

A great good bye to New Zealand, roll on Cape Horn.

I think the send off from NZ was the most emotionally charged that I have seen in one of these races. I think Cape Horn is on everyone’s mind, I know it is in mine. I hope that everyone gets around safely and arrives in Punta quickly. The first week is shaping up to be a fast one and by the end of it, we all will be half way to the Horn.

As usual, the first days are tough ones mentally as I transition from the varieties of the stopover into racing mode. I've managed to find some pace quickly and I hope I can keep it up. Currently I'm in second place just behind Brad and I can see him out the starboard window. But Chris and Gutek are not far behind and will be pushing to get into this spot.

Hope everyone is well. More soon.

Take Care

Derek
